VINCENT — At its regular meeting Monday, the local Warren School Board discussed the grade the school district received in accordance with state achievement guidelines.

According to the report, local schools in Warren exceeded state standards in the areas of academic achievement, progress, closing gaps, graduation and early literacy, with data that reflect the percentage of students who meet the standards for readiness to transition from high school to one of the following; college, career, labor and/or military, and gave the result of 35.5%, meeting the requirements that qualify the student as “ready.”

Warren High School’s graduation is scheduled for May 19, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center at Marietta College.

A payment of $500 was made to Lori Ludwig for coordinating the county-wide professional development day. This stipend, along with applicable benefits, will be reimbursed to the district by the Ohio Valley Education Service Center through a grant.

With the drastic need to find replacement bus drivers, the District of Warren is now offering drivers higher compensation. Originally, the underdriver rate was $16.50, and it is now slightly higher at $18.25, which is the rate at SERS retirement with school bus driving experience. Replacement drivers making trips will also receive approved trip rates.

All proposed business was approved.

The board recognized all patrons who donated in support of the local Warren School District athletics program.

“We deeply appreciate these companies for their contributions. They are the basis of the community, always very generous”, said board members.

Driver education will return to be taught in-house at Warren with assistance from the Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center, Ohio Valley ESC and other respective districts.

The next regular board meeting will be October 17 at 6 p.m. at Warren High School, rooms 1710 and 1711, 130 Warrior Drive, Vincent, Ohio.
