These teachers who are making a lasting impact received a special surprise on TODAY

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Day, TODAY is celebrating a group of Florida teachers who have had a positive impact on their students.

One such teacher is Natalie Stuart, who teaches third grade at Nova Eisenhower Elementary School in Davie, Fla., outside of Fort Lauderdale.

Stuart, who was recently named ‘Teacher of the Year’ at her school, has drawn attention and praise on social media for her ICT Tac videos with his students.

Initially, Stuart started posting on the platform to keep his students engaged during the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, she has almost half a million followers and her adorable and funny clips have received over 15 million likes.

In video, she leads her students to listen to her as she sings the lyrics “I’ll tell you what I want, what I really, really want,” from the catchy Spice Girls track “Wannabe.” His students then respond with the following line from the song: “So tell me what you want, what you really, really want!”

Other clips show classmates quoting “Officeand calling Stuart “your graceas she playfully fans herself while wearing a tiara.

She also uploaded several cute videos of her dance with his students.

“Ms. Stuart is one of a kind, right?” Angine Tyghter, Principal of Nova Eisenhower Elementary School, said TODAY. She added that the teacher knows how to engage and connect with her students to “to meet them where they are”.

Stuart, who works at a Title I school where the majority of students are disadvantaged and live in low-income communities, shared that students always tell him, “I want to be in your class next year. She keeps them productive and entertained by cutting out photos of celebrities and attaching them to Popsicle sticks to act as her teaching assistants. A few famous faces kids like to see are Pauly D and Cardi B.

On May 3, National Teacher Appreciation Day, Stuart joined fellow Broward County School District teachers – Lisette Torres, Ama O’Neal, Tammy Cheney, Yanneka Goulbourne and Lorraine Fischer – at Rockefeller Center’s Roller Boogie Palace with TODAY’s Hoda Kotb and Savannah. After Stuart explained how blessed she feels to have the support of her students and other educators, TODAY’s Sheinelle Jones skated in and revealed she heard Stuart’s car was recently broke down and caught fire.
