Singer Avril Lavigne debuts on TikTok with pro skateboarder Tony Hawk, Entertainment News & Top Stories
MALIBU – Singer Avril Lavigne made her TikTok debut on Monday, June 21 with her hit Sk8r Boi and roped up pro skateboarder Tony Hawk for the music video.
The song may have come from her 2002 debut album, but the 36-year-old pop-punk singer had hardly changed since her first appearance on the stage as a teenager.
With her long blonde locks and black nail polish, she lip-synced with the song’s opening verse before Hawk stepped into the frame just as she hit the chorus:.
Wearing the same striped tie Lavigne started out with, Hawk, 53, performed stunts on her pink skateboard on a seaside ramp that appeared to be her home in Malibu, Calif.
The post coincided with Go Skateboarding Day, an annual celebration of the sport that began in California in 2004.
A day after its publication, the video garnered 15 million views and 3.5 million likes, while her account amassed 1.1 million followers, many of whom grew up with her music.
“This is the collaboration we all wanted in college,” one fan wrote in the comments.
Others marveled that she looked completely unchanged, saying “The girl hasn’t aged since 2000” and asked her for her beauty secrets. One fan called her an “non-aging vampire.”
Hawk, a skateboarding pioneer who invented dozens of moves, posted a short clip on Instagram of Lavigne skating.
He wrote in the caption: “Latest news: Sk8er singer Boi learns skating movement from old Sk8er Man. “
