Ret Armyman disappears, family say they received threatening messages

A 45-year-old retired serviceman disappeared from his home in Delhi’s Rohini on Monday morning, police said, adding that a kidnapping FIR has been filed on his family’s complaint. The man, Rajender Parshad, has been working with a public school in Delhi for three years now. His family claimed to have received threatening and suspicious messages from his number on WhatsApp. Police said they are investigating the case.

His daughter, aged around 25, said a group of people followed her father 10 to 15 days ago. On Monday, he left for school but did not return home.

“Today my dad went to school at 6:40 a.m. and hasn’t been home since. He used to come home at 1:30-2:00 p.m. everyday…I told my brother in law and he went to school…the guard sitting at the gate said Rajender is on leave. My brother-in-law then inquired with the school staff and others but to no avail… Today at 2:10 p.m. a missed call went from my dad’s phone to my brother’s phone. He called back but my dad didn’t pick up. After that, I called my dad from my phone but he didn’t pick up. And then… a WhatsApp message came from his number. The message read “Sir Tan Se Juda, Sir Tan Se Juda to Ajmer via Pakistan”. There was also a photo that had (name of prohibited organization) written on it. My family and I suspect that a stranger has kidnapped my father,” said the FIR alleged.

The family shared a screenshot of the chat which shows the threatening message and a picture of the name of the banned organization. DCP (Rohini) Guriqbal Singh Sidhu said the police are looking into the matter and investigating from all angles.

A senior district police officer said, “We have not received a complaint from the family or ex-serviceman about the man being harassed or followed. He disappeared under mysterious circumstances… Our teams are looking for him. We have a good lead and we will find him soon.
