Pochettino reacts to boos from Messi and Neymar received from Parc des Princes crowd during Bordeaux game

On the heels of Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 elimination against Real Madrid, the crowd at the Parc des Princes during the team’s Ligue 1 game against Bordeaux unleashed their frustrations on Lionel Messi and Neymar. The two-star striker was booed and whistled when he touched the ball throughout the game.

Speaking after PSG’s 3-1 victory in the game (via The Team), coach Mauricio Pochettino gave his reaction to the mood of the game and whether the two veteran scorers were affected in any way.

“Nobody likes this background, it made me sad,” Pochettino said. “Everyone who loves PSG after Madrid’s disappointment is sad. I am saddened by what I have experienced here today.

“We have all been affected. We understand the disappointment and frustration. We all live it together, as a team. We have a responsibility to take responsibility for what happened. We share this disappointment of the supporters.

Overall, Messi didn’t score or assist in the game. Neymar scored a goal in the win, although that didn’t stop the boos and whistles from coming his way.

For now, PSG will just have to keep pushing forward as they will now meet AS Monaco in a key Ligue 1 fixture.
