Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Thursday that Imran Khan had made his prime ministership a business and earned 142 million rupees by keeping 58 state gifts from the Tosha Khana paying a meager 20% retainer.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Thursday, she said PTI’s performance is in front of the people.
Commenting on the sudden rise in former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s income, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the former Prime Minister declared his maximum income at Rs 141 million for his entire lifetime.
She said that on the contrary, Imran Khan earned 142 million rupees by retaining 58 state gifts from the Tosha Khana by paying a meager amount of 20% retainer. She said Imran Khan kept these precious gifts at lower prices and sold them on the open market at four times higher rates.
The minister said that Imran Khan and his cronies are telling lies that the gifts were withheld at 50% prices, but in reality the payments were made at the rate of 20% withholding.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Imran Khan will have to provide the money trail of the amount spent to keep the Tosha Khana state gifts. She said that a person who does not have enough income to pay the retainer money can buy valuable gifts.
The minister urged the people to seek an answer from Imran Khan for the rising inflation, unemployment and the ruination of Pakistan’s foreign policy. She said Imran Khan was trying to hide his incompetence, corruption and malpractice behind the so-called foreign conspiracy mantra. She expressed the belief that the figure was designed and dictated by the previous regime.
She went on to say that there will be zero tolerance against the malicious and organized campaign against state institutions spread on social media via Bots’ tweets.
“Federal Investigation Agency, Ministry of Home Affairs and Pakistan Telecommunication Authority have been alerted in this regard,” she said and added that the identification of the Bots started at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and that no one will be allowed to slander state institutions.
On a question, Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Imran Khan burned 980 million rupees on his helicopter ride from Banigala to the Prime Minister’s office.
