KUCHING (November 16): The federal government Pakatan Harapan (PH) was able to review the mega-projects of the previous Barisan Nasional (BN) government and saved the country a lot of money, Teo Nie Ching said.
The National Publicity Secretary of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) has said that the PH government was competent in managing the country’s finances before its term was cut short.
“While 22 months in office may not be enough, it does not mean that PH is not committed and sincere in building a better country. We have reviewed the contracts signed by the previous BN government and it had saves the country a lot of money,” she said last night while campaigning at the Mile 7 Sentosa Parade.
The former deputy education minister said that although the PH government collapsed after 22 months due to the political crisis, the votes cast in 2018 were instrumental in bringing about changes in the country, including the imprisonment of former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Teo called on voters to give PH a chance and elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the new prime minister.
“No one is perfect. I can guarantee you that PH will continue to make mistakes in the future, but one thing I can assure you is that we are sincere in our fight for the good of our country over the for the next five years,” she said.
Teo added that a research house indicated that PH is now the main political coalition to form the federal government.
MP-in-waiting Violet Yong said the parliamentary elections presented voters with an opportunity to put the country back on track, as well as reject elements of corruption and extremism.
In his speech, DAP Deputy Chairman Gobind Singh Deo highlighted the achievements of the previous PH government.
He also urged voters to believe again in the fight for a better future for the country.
