Emily Blunt spent months riding horses in preparation for ‘The English’.

The 39-year-old actress – who has Hazel, eight, and Violet, six, with her husband John Krasinski – revealed she spent hours and hours preparing for her role in the Western drama in six episodes.

She shared, “They can smell your fear. I rode for three months before I started and it helped me feel more comfortable because people back then were one with the horse. So you had to kind of know your job.”

Emily’s family also spent time there.

The London-born actress – who plays Lady Cornelia Locke on the show – told PEOPLE: “They learned to ride horses and buggies.”

The new drama was inspired by spaghetti westerns, and Emily admits the story “just captured [her] heart”.

She added: “I felt deeply and every script [of this show] that came to me afterwards was so beautiful and so moving. I was just looking forward to seeing what was going to happen next.”

Meanwhile, Emily previously revealed that John was “immune” to his steamy love scenes.

The actor has been married to Emily since 2010, and she admits he’s become desensitized to her on-screen romances over the years.

When asked what he thought of his on-screen kiss with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in ‘Jungle Cruise’, Emily replied, “Honestly, John is so used to me having to kiss with d ‘other men. He’s immune to it at this point. . It was part of the deal when we got married!”

Emily also revealed that she has developed great chemistry with the wrestler-turned-actor.

She said: “It was there from the start. There were certain scenes where we couldn’t get a direct grip. Even the crew was like, ‘Come on guys!’ It was such a joy to work with him. He’s wonderful.”
