Thiruvananthapuram: The list of all those who have not received and applied for the ex-gratia of Rs 50,000, provided to the families of those deceased by Covid, will be compiled in all districts.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has directed district collectors not to delay ex gratia payment due to delay in submitting bank account details. Arrangements will be made to give the amount in cash to those who cannot provide the bank account number. If the relative of the deceased is bedridden, the next closest relative can receive the amount based on the report from the tax officials.

If the parent lives overseas and a parent living in the state is named by that person, the amount can be transferred to them.

According to statistics from the Ministry of Health, 68,130 people have died of Covid until Monday. 59,862 people have received the ex gratia payment so far. A total of 63,536 applications were received, of which 61,239 applications were accepted.

The request for ex gratia must be given within two months

KSDMA asked affected individuals to submit the request free of charge within two months. Applications for those who died before March 22, 2022 must be submitted within two months of March 24. This instruction was issued on the basis of the Supreme Court’s verdict on this matter.

For those who died after March 22, 2022, their next of kin must apply within 90 days of death. According to the instruction issued, a decision on the application must be made within 30 days. Those who cannot submit their request within this period can contact the complaints redress committee.
