BARCELONA are aiming to fend off interest from Premier League clubs Manchester United and Chelsea in Ronald Araujo, according to reports.
Araujo has had a stellar season for Barcelona this season and has courted interest from top European clubs.
And reports say the 23-year-old wants to be paid more than what Barcelona are currently offering in the latest contract renewal.
According to SPORTBarcelona must increase their offer if they have any hope of keeping one of their best assets at the club.
ESPN reported last month the 23-year-old earns £4.2million a year at the Nou Camp, or £80,000 a week.
Barcelona recently tied Ansu Fati and Pedri to new deals and Araujo wants equal pay to other Barca youngsters.
Manchester United are very keen on the key Barcelona man and are preparing a move this summer.
Chelsea cannot sign players as the UK government imposes sanctions on the club and Roman Abramovich.
And that puts Man Utd in pole position to land him as part of their summer revolution.
Barcelona and Xavi plan to sit down with the player and his agent this week to discuss a new deal.

However, Xavi says the 23-year-old can be sold for a profit in Premier League club circles.
It could be smart business for a club like Manchester United, who are notorious for overpaying defenders like Harry Maguire.
