AEW’s Dasha Gonzalez Reveals Surprising Message She Received From The Rock

Dasha Gonzalez appeared on “AEW Unrestricted” this week to discuss how she got into AEW, her first behind-the-scenes AEW interview, and messaging with The Rock.

Dasha on Billy Gunn helping him get into AEW:

“I’ve known Billy for, I’m willing to say, nine years now. He was actually one of my trainers when I was in NXT.

“He’s an amazing human being and knows the industry and life in general so well, because he’s been through so much that he’s like my foster work dad,” she said.

“When I was let go by WWE and he found out he was like, ‘We need you.’ He was the head coach of AEW at the time. When we had Pay-Per-View at Daytona, which was Fyter Fest, he said, ‘Just come with me. Come in the back for let them see how awesome you are because we need you,” and I will be forever grateful.

During his first backstage interview for AEW:

“This is my moment of redemption. Most people didn’t think I had a personality,” she said.

“At the other place where I worked, they thought I was a robot. If you’ve ever been to a live event, or if you’ve ever been to anything, you saw that I wasn’t a complete loser and I had a personality. I was just a little held back and not allowed to be myself. So that was one of the most refreshing things because the first time I did an interview, it was one of those things where I was like, ‘Okay, hey, I’m waiting for the script.’ Guess what? There was no script.

“So I was like, can I speak with the words that I have inside my brain? Can I ask a logical question that this person can articulate an answer to? It was amazing because I could feel there was a bit of hesitation because it was a team that had only seen me fail on TV before, so they trusted me a lot. I’m like, I can do this. Trust me. I can do it. I have to go live and ask a question that has come up. It went very well. »

On the Rock sent him a message about his appearance on Titan Games in 2020:

“Two or three months later I got a message from him (The Rock) saying how proud he was of me and how hard I worked. I honestly just couldn’t believe he would take the time of his day to text me for two minutes He’s the kind of guy up The Rock.

“He thanked me for representing wrestling. I was so shocked. He said ‘It’s so good to have someone like you representing the wrestling industry and not giving up. Little no matter who you are or where you’re from. You gave it your all. I felt like I did and it was nice to see that he recognized it and everyone recognized it, so I’m just, even still to this day, I’m so grateful to him.
