Tirupati, Apr 23 (UNI) One hundred tonnes of organic pulses needed to make Srivari naivedyam prasadam were received on Saturday, said AV Dharma Reddy, Additional Managing Director of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). The stock received when marketing TTDs descends after the ceremonial pujas. Speaking on the occasion, Reddy said organic pulses bought from 2,500 organic farmers through the Markfed and processed by the millers were bought by the TTD. He said the annual pulse requirement for Srivari Prasadam is 7,000 tons of pulses, including 896 tons of red gram dal, 215 tons of black gram dal, 474 tons of jaggery, 54 tons of coriander seeds, 25 tons of turmeric, 237 tons of Sona masuri rice, 22 tons of cumin seeds, 83 tons of dried red chillies, 284 tons of moong dal, 25 tons of chanadal will be procured from organic farmers in the next two years. This year, 2,300 tonnes of pulses were purchased from organic farmers, he said. He said that to support the organic farmers in the task, TTD provided the 1800 unproductive oxen and cows to be used in farming activities. UNI KNR SHK2235
